Tips for Doing Well in the New 2K20 Basketball Franchise Game
NBA 2K20 is the newest basketball game released by 2K for PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. With complex mechanics and movement, the game has a high learning curve in all game modes, from MyCareer to MyLeague. Learn in the full tutorial how to master the fundamentals of passing and positioning, as well as tactics to run well on the court and make 2K20 MT quickly.
Master the different types of passes
Spinning the ball through the different athletes on your team is the best way to open spaces and get closer to the basket. To make the most basic pass, move the directional pad in the direction of who will receive the pass and press X on the PlayStation, A on Xbox One, or B on the Nintendo Switch. However, this pass is very easy to be intercepted by rivals, so it’s worth trying all the variations of special passes as well.
To make an Alley Oop, press twice Triangle (PS4), Y (Xbox) or X (Switch). Basket Pass is made by holding triangle, Y or X, while Bounce Pass requires tightening circle, B or A. Double clicking on the circle, B or A makes a Flashy Pass. Press Square and X at the same time, X and A simultaneously or Y and B to jump and jump pass. Finally, press R1 on any console to make an Icon Pass, each player’s unique pass.
Make good use of the Playbook
Every NBA team has its own Playbook, the playbook with predefined attack and defense tactics. During play, press L1 (PS4 and Switch) or LB to dictate which move your teammates should make. Avoid running for nothing, as the wear and tear is cumulative and your players will get tired faster if they move too much unnecessarily.
When it comes to marking rivals, pressing the L2 (PS4), LT (Xbox) or ZL (Switch) button triggers a firmer dial under pressure. Try to move toward the path your opponent is turning to close your path and prevent it from entering your carboy. With a well-built defense, at this point your teammates may even intercept a desperate pass.
Evolve and strengthen your team
Once you start playing MyTeam mode, NBA 2K20 will allow you to choose one of five evolution cards to equip: Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Dirk Nowitzki, Derrick Rose or Hakeem Olajuwon. As matches progress, your cards will evolve and gain new attributes, but choose the player well, as you cannot go back after selection.
